Cheboksary, June 24-25

On June 24-25, the Inter-Regional Scientific and Practical Conference on Urgent Issues of Prophylactics, Diagnostics and Treatment of Breast Cancer was held in Cheboksary with support from Mikhail Ignatiev (Acting Head of the Chuvash Republic).

The conference was initiated by the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Chuvash Republic, the Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies named after N. N. Blokhin, the National Fund for Support to Women’s Health, the Chuvash Republic Clinical Oncologic Center, and the Chuvash Republic Women’s Council.

 

Conference participants were welcomed by Mikhail Davydov (Chief Off-Staff Cancer Specialists of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Director of the Blokhin Center (Federal State Budgetary Institution), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences).

Among the conference's participants were Alla Samoylova (Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Chuvash Republic), Rustem Khasanov (Chief Cancer Specialist of the Privolzhski Federal District and the Republic of Tatarstan), Natalia Kochergina (Lead Scientific Researcher of the Scientific and Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Radiology of the Blokhin Center), and Lidiya Voropaeva (Director of the Republic Clinical Oncologic Center).

 

Welcoming conference participants, the Minister, Alla Samoylova, noted that issues of prophylactics and early diagnostics of cancer diseases are areas of priority for the Chuvash Republic. 'Today, our specialists make visits to districts of the Republic, enterprises, territories adjacent to residential buildings. If we succeed in ensuring maximum screening coverage, then mammological programs will start to work with more efficiency. It is important not only to make a mammography, but also to make it correctly, to see what has to be seen. Our task is to make it so that patients would not fear the 'cancer' diagnosis, to make them visit doctors in a timely manner, for the purposes of early-stage diagnosis,' said Alla Vladimirovna.

 

On June 24, the conference's scientific focus was on a wide range of issues related to prophylactics, diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer. Among issues discussed was also oncopsychology. During the conference, the leading Russian experts presented reports on urgent issues.

Oksana Moldovanova (President of the National Charity Fund for Support to Women’s Health) thanked the guests for reports and for active participation in the conference, and announced actual start of the program for perfection of the system of comprehensive prophylactics in the Chuvash Republic (planned to cover a 5-year period).

On June 25, practical workshops were held in the Republic Clinical Oncologic Center for X-Ray doctors.
 

In his report, Aleksandr Petrovski (Executive Director of the Association of Russian Cancer Specialists) drew the audience's attention to the importance of unification of Russian and international experience in the sphere of prophylactics, diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer.

 

Professor Natalia Kochergina has presented (jointly with colleagues) the System of Descriptions, Recommendations and Statistics of Mammography Screening, which allows to ensure raising qualifications of medical personnel and standardization of mammography screening in accordance with international standards.

 

Lidiya Voropaeva (Director of Oncologic Center), summing up conference results, stressed the importance of the event and expressed her assurance that the newly-launched program will allow efficient unification of all resources for achievement of significant success in the combat against.
