Opening of Scientific and Consulting Center
On May 12, a Scientific and Consulting Center was opened in the Republic Clinical Cancer-Prevention Center. On its basis, experts from the Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies named after N. N. Blokhin (Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation) will be conducting remote consultations for specialists of the Republic Clinical Cancer-Prevention Center and specialists from medical institutions of the Chuvash Republic, and will be organizing trainings for doctors with the usage of modern video conference call systems.
The official opening ceremony was attended by Yevgueniya Gurianova (Head of the Department of Medical Assistance Organization, Ministry of Healthcare of the Chuvash Republic), Lidiya Voropaeva (Director of the Republic Clinical Cancer-Prevention Center), Mamed Aliev (First Deputy Head of the Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies named after N. N. Blokhin at the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, Director of the Scientific and Research Institute for Pediatric Oncology and Haematology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor), and Somasundaram Subramanian (oncology surgeon, founder and Director of the Eurasian Federation of Oncology).
The honored task of 'cutting the red ribbon' was given to Professor Mamed Aliev: 'Today, development of any industry and any organization is related to IT technologies and telecommunications functionality. And it is absolutely clear that today, one of the pioneers in this area is the Chuvash Cancer-Prevention Center. First of all, it means an opportunity for very quick obtainment of 'second opinion' on specific patients. And it is not only a conversation of two doctors. We can examine patients as well. This shortens the consultation process and raises its efficiency. This is a 21st century opportunity which the Chuvash Republic was one of the first ones to grasp'.
The equipment which was installed by YSAR+ in the Scientific and Consultation Center gives an opportunity to doctors from the Cancer-Prevention Center to communicate with several consultants specializing in various areas and working in the Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies named after N. N. Blokhin (Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation). At the same time, all participants of online consultations can access diagnostic data using professional high-definition equipment.
As was noted by Marina Kaygorodova (Regional Director of YSAR+ and Honored Industry Worker of the Chuvash Republic), 'The software developed by YSAR+ allows to conduct remote telehealthcare consultations for the purpose of formulation or adjustment of diagnoses, developing treatment strategies, taking of decisions on necessity of hospital admission. The system includes formalized diagnostic and clinical protocols, which ensures correct wording of consultation requests and allows experts to quickly provide recommendations and opinions with the maximum possible precision'.
Right after the Center's opening, two patients from the Chuvash Republic were consulted in online mode.
Somasundaram Subramanian, the guest of the Republic, said that 'Today, IT technologies cancel the factor of distance, and one can consult any specialist. Thanks to the labors and plans of Chuvash cancer specialists, patients will not have to go anywhere for any reason during the next years. The reason is that all medical assistance services requested by Chuvash patients will be provided within this institution'.
