Conference hall telecommunication system

Conference hall telecommunication systems are sets of equipment for halls which allow convenient and efficient holding of work meetings, seminars and conferences.

Installation of equipment for conference hall telecommunication systems is a complex process of setup and installation of several software-and-hardware units. Design work is performed on the basis of the following systems:

  • Data display;
  • Voice-over;
  • Documenting;
  • Simultaneous interpreting;
  • Switching;
  • Conference calls;
  • Integrated control.

Principal functions of the system:

  • Amplification of sound broadcasting;
  • Organization of international conference calls;
  • Usage of conference equipment for simultaneous interpreting;
  • Ensuring high quality of visually displayed events;
  • Simplicity of control of conference hall equipment;
  • Possibility for lecturer's control of presentation materials display.

When installing equipment of conference hall telecommunication system, it is necessary to take into consideration acoustic features of the premises, along with the issues of aesthetical nature.

Types of conference hall telecommunication systems

Wired systems

Wired systems are the most wide-spread type of conference telecommunication systems. In such systems, transmission of audio streams and control signals between microphone consoles and central equipment is done by cable.

Wired systems are subdivided into analog and digital.

Analog systems use transmission of sound in analog form. Their functionality is limited, and therefore they are placed into basic-level category and used for simple discussions. The main advantage of analog systems is their lower price (in comparison with digital systems).

Digital systems use transmission of sound in digital form and are free from almost all deficiencies of analog systems. The following advantages of such systems can be named: high quality of sound, wide range of functions (with unlimited potential for increasing), full integration with external control systems.

Wireless systems

Wireless systems use infrared or radio communication for voice transmission.

Wireless systems are used for quick equipment of conference halls (for example, outdoors), in premises where installation of wired systems is impossible (for example, halls of historic value), when one conference system is used alternately in several halls (conference finished in one hall, equipment moved to another one).

Advantages:

  • Mobility (quick deployment and dismantling);
  • Does not require prolonged expensive installation (it is necessary only to place wireless microphone consoles across workplaces).

Disadvantages:

  • High price (in comparison with wired systems);
  • Limited conference capacity;
  • Low level of noise protection;
  • Requires servicing of rechargeable batteries.
