A reference center for breast cancer screening was opened in Kursk
On September 15, the Breast Cancer Screening Center was opened in the Kursk Regional Clinical Oncologic Center. The center will allow to raise the level of cancer disease diagnostics at early stages, and will make it possible for the region's doctors to interact remotely. It would also entail setting up of a specialized unified information database.
Those attending were shown operation of a 3-level system for provision of cancer-related assistance to the region's population, the first level being the Zheleznogorsk Hospital No. 1 (specialized medical institution), the regional level being the Kursk Regional Clinical Oncologic Center, and the federal level being the Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies named after N. N. Blokhin (Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation).
As was noted by Igor Kiselev (Director of the Oncologic Center), anticipated results of innovations will undoubtedly be represented by increased quality of breast cancer diagnostics and by the possibility of choosing strategies of future actions for each patient within shortest time and in accordance with international standards.
