Results of the Oncoscreening project in Omsk

.
In 2022, a pilot project was launched in the Omsk Region aimed at improving the accessibility and quality of medical care for enterprise workers, focusing on the timely detection and prevention of preclinical cancer.

Two workstations were deployed at the regional oncology center, where specialized software from JSC "YSAR+" was used to facilitate data exchange, describe diagnostic test results, and prepare consolidated reports. This 100% domestically developed medical device includes teleradiology software and an innovative solution: the "JEMYS: Telemedicine Software (version 4.0.1) including: A System for Describing Recommendations and Statistics for Mammography Screening" (registered by Roszdravnadzor of the Russian Federation). This solution has been successfully implemented in Russian regions and represents a standardized system for the terminologically correct description of changes detected during various breast examinations.

Over 1,000 examinations were conducted at the Omsk Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary. The program revealed that the majority of patients had benign breast lesions classified as Bi-RADS 1-2-3, accounting for 96% of those examined. Patients with Bi-RADS 4 were also identified, accounting for 3% of those examined, and were recommended to undergo further examination.

Urgent diagnosis and treatment were required for a 56-year-old woman with lesions classified as Bi-RADS 5. During her medical history, it was revealed that she had been diagnosed with a benign breast lesion in 2017, with recommendations for observation and further examination. Unfortunately, she had not been examined for four years.

Thanks to the Oncoscreening project, the patient was promptly referred for urgent further examination, and in July 2022, she was diagnosed with a benign breast lesion. A right mastectomy was performed, with histological confirmation of the malignancy.

Thus, thanks to the professional actions of the team of IT specialists and oncologists, a man's life was saved.
