Preparing for operation: T. Gasparyan
(Oncology Neurosurgeon) and
A. Bekyashev (Section Head,
Doctor of Medical Sciences)

Doctors from Neurosurgery Section were among the first ones to switch to the new version of YSAR+'s diagnostics system in the Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies named after N. N. Blokhin (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences).

In their work, the section's specialists actively use the functionality of YSAR+'s system for processing and creating 3D models (reconstruction).

For more detailed study of topographic peculiarities of specific patient's brain, it is sometimes insufficient to have data of examinations in three different planes. For this purpose, doctors create 3D models of general surface structure of head and brain (in general) and specific regions (in particular). Using the transition function, they choose required combination of tissue density and, with the help of interactive rotation, investigate the image obtained.

'During preparation for operation, it is extremely important to clearly plan the most optimum way of accessing tumor', says Tigran Grachikovich Gasparyan (Oncology Neurosurgeon, employee of the Blokhin Russian Scientific Center for Cancer Studies, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences). 'Using the system, we recreate a detailed 3D model of head and brain, visualize proportions of vitally essential structures and tumor volume, plan stages of surgical intervention, so that we not only 'get' to the zone of interest, but also do it with the minimum factor of traumatology, which is important'.

When it is necessary to conduct a remote consultation, doctors use a standardized package of YSAR+'s tele-healthcare solution   (Automated System of Remote Tele-healthcare Consultations). Diagnostic workstations come integrated with a tele-healthcare subsystem, which provides all necessary functionality for conducting remote tele-healthcare consultations
