Chief External Expert of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Supports the Timely Screening

Igor Evgenievich Tyurin, Chief External Expert in Radiation and Instrumental Diagnostics of the Russian Federation, professor, MD, visited the Chuvash Republic.

The program of the visit started with a visit to the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary, where Lidia Alexandrovna Voropayeva, Chief Medical Officer, spoke about the organizational system of cancer care in the Chuvash Republic and the facilities of the dispensary.

The expert personnel of the oncology dispensary demonstrated the application of information technologies in the telemedicine and research and advisory centers, the novel design of YSAR+, daily used in the medical diagnostic process.

Further, Igor Evgenievich met with Vladimir Nikolaevich Victorov, Minister of Health of the Chuvash Republic. The round-table meeting with the heads of medical organizations and main external experts of the Chuvash Republic discussed topical issues of lung cancer screening.

Consideration was given to the implementation of an effective lung cancer screening program in the territory of the Chuvash Republic, which is an extension of the description, recommendation and statistics system (DRS platform) for mammography screening in effect since 2015.

“Lung cancer is one of the most common oncological diseases among men. It is directly related to the profession and unhealthy lifestyle, in particular with smoking. Therefore, today we are considering the possibility of creating conditions for the detection of this horrible disease in the early stages in the country, where the level of healthcare development is one of the highest”- said I.E.Tyurin.

The program ended with the conference for radiologists, pulmonologists, therapists, oncologists of medical organizations of the Chuvash Republic, in which I.E.Tyurin took part.

I.E.Tyurin, Chief External Expert in Radiation and Instrumental Diagnostics of the Russian Federation, professor, MD, and N.V. Kochergina, senior research scientist of N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, MD, professor, addressed the conference as experts.

In her report, N.V. Kochergina spoke about the innovative technology “SORS-MS - a description, recommendation and statistics system for mammographic screening”, implemented and successfully used in the Chuvash Republic in mammographic screening. The software is installed in the telemedicine center of the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary. A telemedicine network for the exchange of pictures between the medical institutions of the Republic, the oncological dispensary and the N.N. Blokhin Cancer Center. Experts from the federal and regional centers are involved second independent examination of mammograms taken on the ground and figure out and analyze possible errors with local doctors.

“Special software allows us to standardize the work of a radiologist, helps to diagnose more accurately. The work performed allowed to improve the quality of early diagnosis in the Chuvash Republic significantly” – said N.V. Kochergina.
